All the vipers I know of are all 6.5 inches. Are you talking about the phantoms? They come in those sizes. I like both. They work awesome. The 6" is much less tiresome to work but you will catch some smaller fish especially smaller pike on it.

Sorry, my mistake! It should have been the phantoms of course. I have a hard time keeping these apart.

The six incher has incredible action,,however you have not seen anything yet until you try either size phantom on 35LB superbraid. The small diameter really makes them dance. I now carry one 6ft rod and reel with 35lb tuff just for fishing phantoms
Hand down 7.5" I have one with most of the paint gone. Anybody know how I can get it repainted ? :)

The hooks can really bang up those phantoms, especially if you sharpened them. I recommend a straight wire leader too otherwise they will frequently hang up the front treble on it. With that said I do love this bait. It's one of those gliders that has many speeds and you can't goof up. You can even crank it and troll it.

just got my 7.5" one! Looks great and swims super. Todd, when you troll them, how far behind the boat do you keep 'em? Do you add twitches or just leave 'em there?

Divani, I have not tried twitching them on the troll. All my rods are in rod holders with planer boards. As far as the amount of line out it just depends where I am fishing.
My personal preference is to keep the baits as far away as possible while maintaining depth and proximity to cover. I just don't seem to have luck with short lines behind the boat or baits close to the boat. That's just my preference though.
