mille lacs or metro

If you were me this weekend would you A)drive 3 1/2 hours and fish the metro area for one day, or B)drive 5 hours and fish mille lacs for 2 days? Planning on one or the other, just can't decide if the trip to Mille Lacs is worth it this late in year.

There have been at least three 50lb class fish caught there this year and it is deer opener this weekend so you will have the big lake practicly to yourself,, go for it,,,I will be up there friday, fishing wont be the first priority though Im going to the night ranger concert at grand casino

Lets see: One day in the metro or two days at Mille Lacs? I'd take the two day trip to Mille Lacs in a heartbeat. You'd have the lake pretty much to yourself and you'd have a very good chance of landing a trophy class Muskie, not to mention the bonus monster Pike, Walleyes, and Smallmouths. There are Muskies in the metro, of course, but not like Mille Lacs.
