Has anyone else had problems with propane left outside their shelters in very cold weather? I have had two port. heaters that kept going out if the tanks are left out when its very cold. Is this a basic problem? I remember someone saying it was but I don't know why, as households have them there,.....
PS has anyone looked at the HOT VENT heaters at Lodi.com? Its a heat exchanger and left outside your shelter/tent,...no CO or low O2,..OR fumes. It LOOKS good,..downside it needs a small battery to keep the fan going,..but it puts out 10,000 btu's and seems to have low gas useage..

It's never been a problem for me. The boiling point of propane is 30 degrees below zero. Colder than that, and no pressure is generated in the container, therefore not much flows out of the tank.
If it's that cold, I'm on the couch watching "hook & bullet" shows on television. My ice fishing shelter is a canvas portable. There are limits.

That is correct when it is very cold -40 or so the propane will not vaporize and run your heater.
Warm them up or you could be very cold in a house.

In addition, allow your device (heater head, torch, etc.) to warm up as well. If the appliance is cold the propane doesn't expand freely and burns at a much reduced efficiency. Nature of the beast!
