Just an idea for those looking to buy something for someone or to put on their own Santas list. I'm surprised how many guys don't know about them.
They are (can be depending on model) very brite. the bulbs for all practical purposes last forever. But the real amazing thing is how long they shine on one set of batteries,..one model boasts of leaving it on 24 hours for over 200 days!! (on two c batteries) If you use a flaslight a lot you might check them out.

These are made for close work, and throw very little light. They are useless for netting fish or anything that most of us would use a flashlight for. The bright ones throw light about 3'. And they're pretty expensive. Check out Streamlights for some interesting and useful (but also expensive) flashlights.

Just don't won't anyone to be disappointed.

Good fishin and happy holidays to all.

Good to point out there are some differences!,..I have two flashlights ,..one from Brinkman that fits your discription,...however I would say I like it under some conditions such as after being in the dark for a while and my eyes are used to that level,..it DOES cast a ghostly blue/white light,..as you say,.I leave it on in the boat,..kinda is a night lite,...for a reference point to where you are ect,..and you can reach and find it,...but its not for everyone and all situations, the light does stay very tight,..its surprising how far away you can see it if its pointed your way,..I carry it when I'm walking on unlit roads,..flash it from a distance to alert cars,..the other I have is a 6 led head and it puts out a lot more light,..close to a reg flash light,..yes, more expensive..be aware, check them out, and decide if you have a good use to it,..there are a number of websites that sell them, and have information about them... .

Flashlights suck--get a headlamp!!

Petzl makes two LED headlamps that provide ample illumination for fishing, climbing, camping, etc. They have three bright LEDs and last for over 100 hours on their batteries. About $35. And they're much smaller and lighter than traditional headlamps that make you look like a coal miner.
