I love fishing spinners for eyes. Normally I fish them behind a bouncer and the bouncer stops the twist so it can't get to the main line. Recently though, I have been trolling them in open water with snap weights. I DID use a ball bearing swivel to attach spinner to main line. Didn't seem to help though. Major line twist all the way back to the reel. What should I do? Change my line every time I troll open water spinners or tie several ball bearings in a row? Help!
Well, Jughead, when I get line twist from trolling spinners, I get home, I release my spool on my reel and walk off as far as needed to reach the end of the twist and reel back up while pinching the line. This method works for me. Good luck

Sounds to me that the pressure on your swivels with the weight and the spinner pressure is causing them not to rotate. Try a barrel swivel. crane style, 6 ft from the hooks and make sure the crawler hangs straight.
No loops in the crawler.

For the line twist to the rod from the bouncer use a snap swivel there. Also I've noticed that some bouncers have an open eye were you attach from the rod . Put a binder around the eye so your swivel stays in the eye and does not slide up the arm.
Also Pros have been switching to banana sinkers with crawler harnesses.
Also chain swivels can cure any twist at all.
Guides at Leech Lake used them for years when they snap jigged walleyes on the launches. Also cured bite offs.

You might try a keel weight swivel ahead of your spinner. Steve (IA)

Another method to getting twist out of line, is to take off the bait/lure, and freespool it all out the back of the boat while it is moving. Takes the twist right out. You can do this while moving to another spot on the water. Just reel it all back up and your back in business.
