Chicago Musky Show Swap Meet

There appears to be plenty of interest to have another swap meet at the Chicago show. In spite of posting on the boards last year there were many people who said they didn't know about it but wanted to go. Slamr set it up last year and he's going to be in Mexico on his honeymoon this year (very bad planning on his part).

I called the place we did it at last year and they said they'd have us again. We're apparently quite the talk for the regulars who are still laughing at us wierdo's swapping baits on a Saturday night.

I told them we might have a few more then the 20 or so we had last year and they agreed to provide a few 8" tables for the back area. We need to get there by 8pm or earlier to claim our real estate because Saturday night is Karaoke (sp?) night and they get a crowd at around 10pm (and we're weird?)

They asked me to try to tell them before the event how many will come. I will put a post up on the boards prior to the show to try to find out how many will be there. Please post if you intent to come. Dooley's is nice enough not to charge us set up, space or a deposit so lets try to help them with a idea of our size and bring your thirst for drinks.

Here's what you guys all need to do: cut and paste jm_03's post and send it to ALL your muskie moron friends that you possibly can!!!! Some needs to volunteer to put up fliers, then someone needs to go put them up in all the bait shops in the Chicagoland area. Make it so....

The swap meet is definitely hard core. everyone was happing a happy old time. Last year the beer lady brought out a whole server of bottled beer to my table...never got a bill.

B420, save your money and buy some expensive baits like a shaker. The adult entertainment in IL is absolutely terrible. Somebody decided if you want to see less then a bikini, pasties and often, no booze. If you must see the ballet while in town, close to Harper is Heavenly Bodies in Elk Grove Village (Bikinis), futher is Black Jacks in Elgin (Bikinis), Crazy Horse and the Admiral in Chicago (big $$$)

An encore, eh? Maybe I'll give a netting seminar on how to properly swipe at 45# muskies with a Beckman. It's a technique that requires a special touch and much practice.

Slam, if memory serves me correctly, I bought you a cold one at Dooley's last year, you can buy the next round when it's convenient. As far as next season goes, I might be able to free up some time around Halloween, but spring and summer fishing time will be limited. The wife is due to bring triplett esoxjunkie fry into the world sometime around april. Will have my hands full for sure.

The silver slipper in ottawa is full nude and not expensive. It looks like porky's when you pull up. Went there for a bachelor party and had a great time. Unfortunately it's quite a cruise from the show at an hour and a half.

Hey that sounds pretty good. I haven't been around the board very long so missed out on last year. I'll warn you all ahead of time though...I'll probably be more of a buyer than seller. What I could really use is a reel.

As far as places to go afterwards, I've heard from other people(LOL!) that there's a place near the airport called All-Stars. Seriously though...have never been there so don't know much about the $$ or clientele.

I plan on attending the show and would like to participate, I am new to the boards and would like very much to meet some of the people in here. I have 3-4 Musky Innovation products that looked good on the rack, but didn't have very much "wet-time" this year. Maybe I am missing out, but just don't have the confidence in these yet. I am staying at the recommended hotel on the show site,(Amerisuites??), anyway, is this swap location near there? Thanks.

Yes, the bar is very close to Harper where the show is. Without checking mapquest I'd guess its not more then 3-4 miles and only requires you make one turn....a simple left. There's probably better places for this event, especially if you don't like singing, but this place is easiest to find from Harper.

Im intrested in splitting the cost of the room and I was at the swapmeet last year so I know how to get there. Im comming from Minneapolis and if you want we could split the cost even more if you want to add a coulple more guys. theres a bunch of us comming and afew of the guys from this board so it would be a good time

Zach, you may be able to be in the bar. I will be bringing quite a few baits and will bring a few of my spinners as well. I will also be bringing some superline (tuff, tuff-plus, power-pro) that is either new or used 1-2 times. At least one reel and possibly a rod or two.

we had kids at the swap meet in minnesota and it was a big well known bar just be there and we will get you in maybe somebody in that area can call and ask the bar what their policy is but the fact that your with a bunch of adults and were fishermen not bikers I dont see a problem,,just be there
