What I mean is this. I think we all get alot of follows we don't see but we do see them on our electronics. I would say it's like 15to1 for me. There it is a big arch with a grayline in the top 6-8 feet right under the boat but you never see it. I personally only count the ones I see but I defintitley get many, many more that I don't.

I only count the ones i see, and I don't count when a fish may have come back 4 or 5 casts later on the same spot as an earlier follow. But, I will say that I try to count how many I am seeing....just nice to add to my frustration. The most in a day this year was 46 fish (of course I didnt get one, though both partners did, the b@stards) and the 41, and I boated four that day (course the biggest was a Slamr top ender of 36")....and only had one day all year when I didnt at least move a fish.

I figure one followed on every cast from some distance even if I can't see them....even count the miniature bass/bluegill larvae!:)

I get a kick out of the schools of perch and sunfish that follow up sometimes. Never been sure if thats a good sign or not, but it is funny. Lets see - 25 follows on that cast, a dozen on another cast....:)

I quit counting follows or talking about them. They don't count for anything, I guess if a follow excites you fishing has ben slow. I think most follows are imagined anyway. We get bored out there and start seeing things. ,Just having fun guys, you all have a good xmas and may the new season bring many follows but more strikes,

I'm with Don.
Don't count follows.
Remember them, YES, count them NO.
What, where and when as to what may have caused the FOLLOW, sure!

It makes clients or friends feel good when they tell folks they moved fish or they had a few to the boat if they did not accually put one boat side with hooks, but that is it.
;)
Last year in a contest we were in there were four or five fish caught, but it seems EVERYONE was moveing 10 to 15 fish per boat.
Made placing that much more fun!
LOL
I'm a leader, not a follower!
LOL
:)
In my mind I'm one of the best, always just one step ahead of the rest!
LOL
;)
I have been know to say "Hey Mr. Musky, Follow this" while pitching back to a moving fish!
Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but it is all good.

11 days till Christmas.
I'm getting excited.
:)
Have a great weekend everyone.

The only reason to consider follows is that its a clue as to
1. How active the fish are.
2. What kind of areas (depths) are they holding at
3. What kind of lure presentation are the fish responding to.
The follow is an important clue to help you zero in on fish. Muskie anglers who cast would be hosed if the only clues we got as to what the fish are doing where based on the fish we actually boated.

A depth finder "follow" helped me boat my first Metro Lake (Lake Independence) 50" incher this fall. Frankly, I'd just keep tabs on your fishing observations and not worry about whether it was an offical follow or not.
