i have tried them they didnt work for me becauce the cleats on my boat were not big enough but i think the design is well thought out they seem to be made of very sturdy material

Allan, I have two of these holders that I use on the front cleats of my boat for pulling planner board rods. They work fine and allowed me to intall two rod holders at the front of my boat without drilling any holes. They only allow you to hold your rod 90 degrees to the side of your boat but for planner rods that is all I would be doing anyway.

I have a pair. They work fine for me. I had to sand a little on them to get them to fit into the cleats on my boat.

They have made improvements

Dan at In a Snap has the rod holders with two different size bases. You guys that used to have to sand or modify the bases no longer have to. There is one made specifically for Rangers etc with the narrower cleat opening, and the original for the rest. The rod holders fit about 85% of the cleats out there. Alumacraft and smoker crafts cleats wont work as they are too big. Great rod holders, great price. I saw them at Bayshore resort in Escanaba. I have a pair, and I love em.
