Is there any way to filter JUNK mail from a Outlook Express email program?
A hotmail account you can set certain email access levels or filters. I am unaware of this function on the Outlook Express, except for the block senders option, but that just filters designated email address's. Problem is the darn pests just change them or sell you name to another crap mail service, so blocking is not too effective.
Are there any programs that do a good job of filtering but will not keep real contacts from finding there way to you? I do not want to limit client contacts while filtering out junk mail, this is a concern.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
BE, funny you bring this up. I received e-mail from "Big-Savings.com" and "NetworkCommerce.com" this morning. When I went to "un-subscribe" I was hit with the BadTrans virus. Grrrrr. We cleaned the files and I hope it's all cleared up. What a fiasco :-(
Best Regards,

I stopped doing the "Go here to Unsubscribe" thing. I think they just bump you to another email address collection server or site, then you get even more crap mail?
They sell you address's to other Junk Mail pimps so I will not play that game anymore!
Ever notice when you do supposedly Unsubscribe to a unsolicited email that soon after that you also get a bunch of bug littered mail, makes you wonder Eh?
:(
In the past I've had no problems with "un-subscribe", I even stopped receiving junk...for a while. Today's experience has me thinking though. Grrrr

Eddy, I cut out an add of a company called junkbusters.com They do say it is a lenghty form, but it may be a start. If you join up let us know how it works.

BE,
Check out http://www.spamkiller.com/.
A couple of the features that meet your needs:
"A copy is kept of all e-mail that's automatically deleted, so you'll never lose a message unintentionally."
"To make things even easier, SpamKiller includes a Friends list. Add your friends' e-mail addresses here, and you can be certain that their messages aren't mistaken for spam."

When you send back an "unsubscribe" message they know it is an active Email address and can charge more for it to the next spam mailer.

RE: "hotmail account you can set certain email access levels or filters"
Why not use a yahoo or hotmail account for all the wandering around the web & then use your outlook account for personal friends, family, the occasional equity trading account?

Eddy simply call you IP provider and add a #1 to your address and then send it to the people that matter telling them to change your address.
When it gets thick again call them again and change the #1 to a #2 and it will stop for a year.
I have found this is the best way to quite getting junk. I usually wait until I start getting about twice as much junk as mail I want and then change it.

Not a bad idea Pitts but one snag is I also use a email address on by business cards, so changing it often is not a good idea, folks have difficulty finding me that way.
I had a 1 added a while back and the darn printer used the wrong font on the card, it looked like a L so that messed up a lot of email traffic for me. I didn't notice the font error tell after doing 3 fishing seminars and there was a lot of business card in circulation already, I heard about that, a lot, by phone.
I am trying the Spamkiller for now and I will see how well it works out.
The Spamkiller set up was simple enough as is the operation of it so maybe this is the deal I need, time will tell.
Thanks for all the tips guys!

Earthlink. ala Sprint has taken outlook express and rewritten it to "their" browser. Absolutely no spam, notta. May have received 3-4 all year. Your ISP makes money by selling the info "you". Earthlink advertises that they do not and they don't. If your proxied to get several e-mail accounts on one line, that many more doors are left "open also.???

Most your ISPs allow numerous accounts. If you get to reprinting your business cards, don't use that account for your browsing and online shopping and you should stay pretty clean. Use another account name for non-business use and, as suggested, change via the numbers 1,2 etc when the span is overwhelming.
Just my 2 cents.
