I was up at the local bass pro shop this weekend and picked up a ceramic stick hook sharpener. IT is a small stick, about 4 inches long and about 1/4 inch in diameter, with a groove in it on one side. It was inexpensive - $2.50, and I thought that I would give it a try.
I have tried lots of different hook sharpeners, and my favorite to this point is the pen style diamond hone, with a groove in one side that sell for about $5.
I tried this ceramic stick sharpener, and was very impressed. It seemed that it sharpened the hook is about 1/2 the time that I normally used for the diamond hone.
If you happen to see one, you might give it a try.
The ceramic stick was inserted into a nice shaped wood handle, which made it comfortable to use.
Take care
