Gigantic Weedbeds

Let's say for a moment you are going to be fishing during a post spawn period. given that the fish should be in weedbeds and shallow, what do you do when you come across a gigantic weedbed? Do you just start fishing the outer edges and work in, or do you "scout it out" first?

I am curious on this in the sense that if you scout the bed out (both deep and shallow), wouldn't you lower your chances of contacting fish due to disrupting the area?

Also, what do you look for besides the thicker clumps in there?

Fish the outside in, and look for the inside turns. Also, you may want to try trolling spinnerbaits in the propwash.

Good point Tomr V....also maybe the open spaces/pockets....around humps, rocks, channels etc. w/in the bed itself....I know this doesn't sound like me + I promised myself I wouldn't display seriousness until Jan. 2nd BUT....what the hay! The river here at home has areas like this that produce + Cave Run does also from what I remember.:)
