I have a '98 Dodge Ram(duh!!) diesel. We changed the front brakes the other day before a trip with the boat. The front seal on the axle shaft is now leaking like you wouldn't believe!! Any other Dodge truck owners had this problem before?? I'd take it to the dealer, but knowing dealers they would say "I" did something to it. I want to get out again to walleye fish only I don't think I should travel anywhere until this is fixed. HELP WANT TO GO FISHING!!

Hi Ram Man,

I have a 4x4 Chevy. I did the rear brakes myself and then I had a major leak. Some one told me it was my axle seal. Trusting this person (a mechanic) I took thier word for it. I started taking stuff apart and I saw that it was a bad brake cylinder. The guy assuming everything was new figured that it had to be an axle seal.

I wish it was just a brake seal. We did the front disc so no seal there on the caliper. The axle shaft comes right out on a Dodge when you take the rotors off. After putting it all back together she started to leak. Quite a bit!! I wanted to go to the St, Clair River tonite and fish the night 'eyes, but I guess that is out. They are getting some nice big fish right now...(sigh) Oh well. Dealer bound...

Have a Dodge myselaf and an ASE Master Mechanic for a friend and he suggested that you can get a brake lathe that you can turn the rotors right on the vehicle w/out removing the rotors..I'm guessing that this would have been the solution..
