It may very well be true. During a tour of the Ranger factory in Flippin this past July I was told by the tour guide that they had a walleye boat larger than the 620 on the drawing boards. I was not told the exact new length of the boat on the boards. Specifically being designed for large lake applications as they have evidently received numerous requests for such a boat.

I e-mailed ranger spring of this year or fall of last year asking them about a longer 620. He said they were coming out with a 621 spring of 2002. So we'll see!

I was just there at Ranger (Dec. 8th thru the 10th) and at the plant the only new boat mold I saw in the pattern shop was a new designed 681 it will be out for 2003 model year. Didn't see anything else, but did hear there are a couple things still being looked at but that was all they said to us.

I wonder why ranger is redesigning the 681?? I think they would be better off making a 621 or 622

It's actually called a 618. 18'x80". Single console only or tiller. 135 hp and 90 hp.
No VS on this one which will make splashguards a lot easier.

Does no vs mean no setback for the motor on the transom?

Correct. It's a flat transom

I had a set of splash guards made for my Ranger 619 by Wave Wackers. I used them this fall fishing for smallies in Green Bay and while trolling on Erie. They worked great at keeping the water out of the boat and where well worth the cost (241.00).

The new model is called a 618. The diminesions will be 18 feet long, and 83" wide. With 135 max hp. Nobody is sure if a tiller version is coming in the near future. We should be able to see this boat in the February boat shows .

It is designed to be a modernized 681 with a much larger front deck for casting and more floor space to make it a better multi species boat.

That's correct, the transom is straight across so splash guards will fit much better for those of us walleye nuts that like to backtroll.

Sounds like the muskie fishermen will jump all over that one. Can't wait to see it. The muskie community will be asking for a tiller too.

So, did anyone ever answer Ginger's question--Is Ranger building a 622VS for 2002???
