Hi....
At the high school where I teach, I have a fishing club going... We are scheduling trips for the year, and the bigger one we're working on now is the February icefishing outing. A small group of kids (6-12)want to head up to Minnesota to do some icefishing. I'm not that "into" icefishing right now; but still want to take the kids up there. Does anybody have any recommendations and contacts for places to head to... maybe a guide service, lodging/resort, etc. We're going to do some icefishing around here (Brookfield, WI)too; but they wanted to head out of state for a trip.
Thanks for any help or ideas!

Jenn,
E-mail me or post here with some of the dates and places that you have in mind and I'll see what some of us can put together. Should be able to round up someone to help out.

Jenn we are having a Walleye Central get together on Mille Lacs Lake on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of Jan. I have an extra house and can possibly aquire another and I'm sure you would be welcome to join us for some good fishing on a great lake.
We are staying at Eddies Resort. Check the post about on the second page right now. Let me know because I am going to get some food for Sat noon or so and I will count you in.
You can E-mail me at home pitsenbg@charter.net or just make reservations for the appropriate night at Eddies ask for the group discount for Walleye Central group.
It sounds like there will up to 30 people there and should be a very good time.

My two picks would be.
Lake of the Woods - Baudette, MN . Many resorts offer full service fishing with lodging, transportation on the ice and heated fish house. Walleye and sauger fishing is very good. I've stayed at Borderview, Adrians, Wig Wam and Sportsmans. Good choice depending on your budget.
Lake Winnebigosh (check my spelling) has many resorts that cater to ice fishing with plowed roads, some have heated shacks to rent, but most people are either fishing in the open or out of portable shacks. This is the lake that my kids always wanted to go to. We always stayed at Judds'. Perch fishing is very fast although the size has come down in the last few years. A side trip to Red Lake is possible which has big and plentiful crappies. Roads are also plowed. Info is on the net.

Do we really think we are going to drive on the ice this year?

Heck yes!!!
My prediction is that by January 15 those of us in northern MN will be praying for the return of 20 degrees.

It's not Mn., but Cedar Lake, north of New Richmond, is a very well kept secret. Not many big fish, but lots of 13-17" eyes as well as pan fish. Some giant Muskies! Maybe you can use it as a tune up.

Hi Paul...
Right now the dates we are looking at are probably Feb. 8-10 since the kids don't have school Fri. the 8th and I don't have any shows that weekend. I'll email you with more info when I get it...thanks for the help
