Have taking trips there for the last five years. 2 years ago I got a 46 incher. Other than that I havent had anything to write home about. There is definatlly an over abundance of northerns in that lake. Lots of walleyes also but this is a muskie board so I wont go into depth about that.

Turk, I figure it like this. if guys like Pete Maina and Bruce Shumway fish there all the time it must be good. I have a buddy that lives up that way and pretty much tells me that he see's them all the time. we have seen and caught some very big fish out of there. Had a 40" size limit for many, many years and now has had a 50" size limit on it for quite a few years. The water is stained and is even good fishing on the bright days. I highly reccomend going. it has got to be the most underrated lake in the state, if not the country.

I believe the winning fish in the Muskies Inc. tournament last fall came from that lake. I’m going to fish her for the first time next season as well. I need to get a map to start memorizing. Good luck

I fish Namakagon quite a bit. It can be a very good lake, at times. It seems to have a lot of fish in the mid to upper 40's range. If you can hit it at the right time, there can be plenty of action with very nice fish. And, like someone else mentioned, there is always northern action to keep things interesting while muskie fishing.

I like it, good cabbage beds, chance at a trophy with 50in size limit, (both Shumway and Brian long have 40lbers off of it). one of a handfull of wi lakes you can troll. If this is a family vacation with kids it has a good walleye and crappie population(walleyes run small). shoreline is somewhat developed. and yes the pike can fill in the dead spots with an occasional decent one (30-35in, know of one 43 inch that was kept). have fun!

If you can, go during the week. It is a very popular recreation lake on weekends. If you do go on a weekend, be ready to getup early and stay up late if you want to avoid the preasure and excessive boat traffic. THE SCENICE BEAUTY OF NAMAKAGON IS UNMATCHED!!
