Having just started muskie fishing two years back i found myself thinking of what knot to use. I basically just stick to the triline knot but is it the best? What about for superlines, what knot there? i have heard many great things on the joe bucher power knot but im not sure what to use. any suggestions would be great.

I have always used an inproved clinch knot with every type of lines and have never had a knot fail yet.
Catch a big one this fall

Have to agree with trophymuskie. With superbraids I use the inproved clinch also. Only difference is I double the line before I tie it. Have never had it slip or fail.

I use the Palamar Knot when tying Leaders to Powerbraid, but for Leadcore,Mono & Fluorocarbon I also use the Improved Cinch Knot.

I also use an improved clinch knot only I double the line before I tie it (as Joel does). Never had it slip or break on any super braid. Palomars also work well, as does the power knot. I find the power knot harder to tie, but maybe thats because I don't tie it very often. Depending on where you have to tie it a palomar or the power knot sometimes can be hard to do because you need to pass the line through the loop. For instance if you need to retie and don't want to take the lure off the end of your leader, its hard to get a 10" Suick through the loop. You don't have that problem with the improved clinch. All are fine knots nearing 100% of line strenght if tied proberly. It doesn't hurt to practice tieing any of these knots during the cold winter months, (your wife will thinks you have lost all your marbles)!

I use superbraid and always use the uni knot. Kind of hard to learn how to tie, but it is the strongest knot out there.

I use the Palamar Knot ! I use power pro and the supper braids work great with the Palamar!
I use a uni knot and have never had one fail.
Whatever knot you use it will make a difference if you double the line. Braided lines fail because of strangulation at the knot - doubling the line leaves 'dead' strands that help absorb these strangulation effects.
