Do LARGE musky baits really work in Canadian waters where there are a lot of northerns? Is it really worth the trouble? Or do you think you can catch just as many muskies using the regular sized musky baits?

How about when fishing at night (to provide a larger target and more vibration)?

Any other situations?

You come and fish in Canada with those small baits ( under 8 in ) and you will catch more muskies, bass, walleyes and pike but if you are interested in big muskies then you will get more of them using bigger baits (over 10 in ) as well as not getting all those other fish.

Now I like to use large baits all year but huge ones in late fall when it's time to slow down some.

Catch a big one this fall
Keep releasing them all

I have to agree with Richard on that one. But why limit the use of those very large baits just for the fall, those same Monster Muskies like large baits year round. So run the big stuff Year round and hold on the next one might be the one your looking for!!

I sincerely believe we miss the boat by not using big enough baits to boat a true giant. Sure everyone has heard of 40+ pounders caught on Erie Deries, but in general these brutes feed on big stuff and not that often. We filleted a 35 inch northern two years ago that had a 23 inch walleye in its belly. I've had muskies hit 26"+ walleyes on several occasions. When guiding the name of the game is most often action, so we throw/troll the usual stuff. If targeting the big girls I firmly believe we need to be using bigger baits. Just my opinion.
