Just curious as to what you fellas find the most productive in bucktails. What style blade, what weight, what color, what brand name, etc. I do not have many and am looking to increase my arsenal. Thanks.

There are many good bucktails out there. Some of the more popular ones are the Mepps Musky and Giant Killers, Buchertails, the Harrassers, Eagle Tails, Musky Candy, and Ghost Tails. My favorite is a Cats Tail bucktail thats made by a guy over in WI. I believe he has a link on Musky central too.

I think the best thing is to have an assortment of bucktails with various blade styles and colors. Get a couple with natural colors for clear water and a few with bright colors for dark water and low-light conditions. A half dozen assorted bucktails should be enough to get you started and cover most applications.

Most everyone has a favorite bucktail and they all work pretty well. I'd just stay away from anything that looks cheap because if a bucktail isn't made well, it won't last long. And nothing worse than having a lure fall apart from pesky pike hits.

Good luck.
