Benefits of a new transducer?

I have an 11 year old Eagle Z9000 LCG. It still works well. The transducer is scratched up somewhat. What benefits would I get from a new transducer if I can find one?

i bought my zercom used and when i got it, it had several severe scrtches on the bottom and i have had no problems. i would say that as long as the scratches aren't penetrated to far into the bottom of the transducer, then you should be alright. i read that they put a heavy layer on the bottom to protect it from such scratches etc.
