I have some molds for making jigheads and lead weights. The problem is that the lead that I have is a very hard lead. It works good for the jigheads, but not for the slitshot that I pour.
Where would I be able to get some soft lead that I could use for pouring these weights?
Thanks,
DB
I was in Stamina last week, and they are all out of lead ingots, too. They did fix me up with some lead automobile wheel weights which are a bit dirty to melt, etc. but can get you by. I think service stations or tire stores give away their old used ones.
I get lead from the city where I live. The old gas lines were all made of a very soft lead that they literally rolled out into the trenches. These pipes were abandoned a long time ago when they put in plastic. When the city has to dig up a water main the old gas pipe is usually right next to it. I just have them pull a section and drop it off at my house instead of leaving it burried in the ground. A 10 foot section of this pipe goes a long way and weighs a lot. The guys that laid that stuff had to be huge!
