What do you guys use to lubricate reel gears, spools and drags in really cold (-10 and below) weather? Sometimes mine get stiff and sluggish to reel in the really cold weather. I clean off most of the factory lubricants and hit things with WD40, but maybe I should be stripping all the grease and going strictly with the WD40 or graphite or something else. I do a lot of fishing in the mountains in temps at and below 0. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I use Sunflower oil or a quality gun oil like Rem-oil.
WD-40 will clean a reel well but you still need a light lube in the bearings and bushings or wear will start quickly.

tip-up oil/grease. Best stuff you can use on your reel for the winter

Here in South East Wisconsin we use a product called BLUE-LUBE. It works great in reels and tip-ups winter/summer. I have not had a "freeze up" in over 10 years with this stuff but I don't know if it is sold that far west.
The Blue lube is the best. Try different oils if you can't find Blue lube. Put your reel in the freezer to see what oils work.

Try some fast oil for inline skates, shoudln't give you nay problems and costs about $8.00 I think. Any hockey shop that tailors to inline or any inline skating shop would carry it.

Try powder graphite for reels.
