Anybody have a good trick for straightening out wire leaders, and whats a good method for storing them when not in use? Thanks for the info. Muskie Mike

Here's my trick and it worked wonders last season:
1. Through away all your stainless leaders
2. Buy enough new titanium leaders for all your rods plus 2 more.

There you are. You'll NEVER have to buy a new one so long as your line doesn't break. Remember to replace your snaps!

If you got a F'ed up leader Forget trying to straighten them cause they never seem to go back. Clip off the hardware (in case you want to tie your own someday) and throw the rest away!! and buy a couple more leaders. Usually store them in the a plano box for protection.

Titanium is the only way to go. DO NOT mess with any other unless you like to twitch cranks, then I use a 7 strand that allows for some flexibilty to keep the action of the lure. The titanium will out last any other leader. Replace those snaps like the above post said though. I got careless last season and lost a good fish to an overworked snap. BUMMER! Live and learn...... For storage take a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe an cut it to what ever length that you like you leaders to be and add an inch. Glue a cap on one end and then glue a coupling with threads on the other just get the threaded cap that fits that threaded coupling and your leaders will never get messed up. Simple and very cheap.

Don't fix bent leaders. Cut the bent stuff off and put on new line. I started making my own leaders last year and it's easy, works great (never had one break, I double clamp each end) and it's super cheap. I use 7 strand steel. I second the watch your snap. I use cross snaps and they're fine.
Bent leaders are prone to snap. I lost a good walleye and my best walleye lure (that one in a hundred that had something about it that just worked) due to a frayed leader. So don't do it. I know everybody has a similar story.
