Anybody get a big un? Anyone hunting late season muzzleloader in Iowa? I would be glad to here from you or share any info I can. If it stays nice I might even be able to fish too.

You might want to check out www.whitetail.com. That is a site made for hunting questions.
So far I have to credit: 2-4x4 whtl bucks, 1-whtl doe(will hopefully be 2 does after this afternoon, hung a new stand on sunday and can't wait to hunt it!). Its been a good archery season so far. Good luck to all. RJ in Montana...

Andy, you go right ahead and keep asking if any of your "fishaholic" friends got their deer this year. This is the general discussion site of walleye central and most of us are all around outdoors people. This is the best site on the www. because we always help one another with ALL subject matter we know anything about. To answer your question; passed up a spike and small six while being too choosey during bow and gun seasons. Don't muzzleloader hunt so I'm, "waiting until next year". Good luck on your time off. Keep your powder dry and lures wet.

Hunted a new area this year, I didnt make out so hot, my buddy took a beautiful 10 point that measures 141 after 4 inch of deductions. A couple guys who hunted the property last 15+ yrs says its the best to ever come off it. This was there last year on the property, I now have the permission to hunt it.
I took a late bow season spike, I just had too fill the freezer!
Hey supertroller, thanks for the backup I have seen posts on deer hunting and many other outdoor topics on this site. If you ever want to you are welcome to hunt or fish with me anytime. We have some great spots for pheasants, ( when there are some ) deer, and the best farm pond pan fishing you could ask for. Hope you get a wallhanger next year!

No big racks this year, but 1st shotgun season we had 11 guys and 11 deer tags filled about an hour into the second day of season. We took at least half does this year as the deer are thick here in N. Iowa and the farmers who own our hunting ground wanted them thinned a little (OK, a lot). I haven't had time to bow hunt this year so nothing there.
Oh yea, and my wife got a 6 or 8 point with her Dodge Durango a couple weeks before season (ouch!!!). Good luck with the late muzzle adventures..

The wife killed a 142 booner in Saskatchewan this year.
Needless to say, she is still smiling....And so Am I.
I will never have to convince her that It is worth the cost.

Maybe you need a new "handle". Grim Reaper sounds like it'll fit about right. Death on Wheels, maybe ??? Anybody can hit a deer with a car, but you take it to the MAX!!! It could be you just have to kill enough of the dumb ones to help the gene pool for that area. You're well on your way. Maybe a BOSS V-plow on the front of the next truck! Kinda like the old cattle-catchers on the Trains. You're in a league of your own.

Gilligan,
I have bow, will travel. Need a lot of white-tail action for upcoming video project. Mr. Twister, and I are looking for a place that has damage permits available so we can get a lot of footage next fall without having to travel all over to get it done. If you or anyone else knows of a farmer over run with deer, drop me a line. Thanks.

Blue,
Not too far from your neck of the woods. I'm from Pa. I drew a buck tag for unit 71 in CO., which is just NW of Purgatory. Went first season. What a blast. Here's a question for you, I've been told different things. With the "western" count, do you count the brow tines or not? If you do, mine is a 4x4, if you don't, its a 3x3. Where in NM did you get yours? Thanks!

Here's a buddy of mine with his southern Iowa buck this year. And a link to my daughter's bear. And a link to my son's bear. I've killed more than 30 whitetails with a bow and about a dozen with a gun, but seeing these two teenagers get their first bears this year was one of my biggest hunting thrills. Crystal got her's with a 20-gauge, Cody got his with a bow.

My insurance agents kids may not have Christmas this year! I put a huge frame mounted cow catcher on the front of the truck and the stupid deer ran into the side. Fortunatly it's so high that the nerf bar step took it's legs out instead of getting the door.
My last trip to the insurance agent he asked me if I realized that I have hit 6 deer. I corrected him it's actualy 11 deer and a bear he just got claims on 6 of them.
Top that one.. last Saturday someone dumped some firewood off a truck in front of me, the truck cleared and so did the boat but the trailer flipped a chunk up into the cavitation plate taking a chunk out of it and bending the skeg! Maybe I'll send my agent a Christmas card..

You are probably the last guy he wants to be reminded of at Christmas! Give the guy a break and let him have a Merry Christmas. Remind me never to ride anywhere with you,,,, I'll just meet ya there. You'll be a little late but we'll all know why. lol.

Bob M,
We usually don't count the brow tines so my 4x4 would actually be a ten point eastern count. I actually am from North Dakota but was lucky and drew a tag in northwestern New Mexico. We hunted about 125 miles northwest of Albuquerque in unit 2B. There is something about hunting Mule Deer that just gets in your blood, kinda like walleye fishing.
Happy Holidays,
Bob M
