I am looking to upgrade my current sonar. I would like the thoughts on these units. Zercom 2000, Pin Point 7520, and Lowrance X-15 MT. I am currently leaning towards the Lowrance.

Me too! And I am just about to "put up or shut up"! The Lowrance 15 MT w/Dual Freq and no GPS won but I'll wait to see if the price gets softer over the hardwater days.

I really liked the Pinpoint but the Lowrance pixel density is greater

Bottomline was up there too, but my last boat had one and I just wanted something different for the new boat.

Genetron is out of the price range.

Si-Tex ????????? No one I know has one.

The rest never made it to these finals.

IMHO.

I have one Ranger -- a Sitex -- and I think it is a very good unit. Have the 106 color with thru-hull transducer and it is a very solid unit. Of course, I don't have the others to compare it to so I don't have any opinion on how they compare ;-) I have looked at the new Garmin GPS units which have incredible detail (very high pixel count) and word is Garmin will be adding sonar to the units. So I'm gonna wait and see!! Hope I don't have to wait as long as the people who have been waiting for Pinpoint GPS ;-)

Good luck,

bob oh,

Well, you're the first one then. Glad it is a good unit for you! ;)

I played with the Garmins' as well and I liked them but that 15 MT just seemed to float to the top, everytime. I really loved my Bottomline but they don't seem to be moving in the right direction fast enough, in my opinion. Lowrance seems to have taken up the reins and are trying to get cartography detail in the LED units - fine by me! Better target/bottom separation especially when I'm fishing for Walleye 75' down over 110' of water and they're NOT biting................and.............I see something!...................On the bottom!.....What?..........What was THAT? There are more hits!....................Could be Lakers!.............and so it goes!

The more pixels the merrier!!
