Musky Mike:
I have fished there for about a day and half a raise a couple real nice fish, saw handful of other. My inlaws bought into a place upthere and didn't spent much time there just stopped and visited. Only saw 1 other boat on the water for skies. classic canadian shield water. I think it definitely might have some potential.
Good luck

If you're talking the same Pipestone I'm thinking of (Clearwater-Pipestone chain just north of Emo) then we're in business. If not, disregard my comments.
Because of the water's clarity, it can be a difficult lake to fish. You're really going to want to take advantage of any low light conditions that present themselves. However, it also has an incredible forage base that helps grow BIG fish of ALL species. The nice thing about this lake is the variety of species - smallies, walleyes, northerns, muskie, whitefish and lake trout. You will have the option of fishing just about any kind of structure you want - deep water, shalow water, mid-lake humps, shoreline points, submergent as well as emergent vegetation, wood, etc. You should be prepared for all strategies depending on what time of year you go and the species you're pursuing.
I have a friend who's been going to Pipestone for now 25 years. Granted, they have the benefit of extensive time on the water. They are also very good fishermen. With this in mind, they ALWAYS at least raise if not land a 50" muskie and net a 10# walleye on each trip.
It's a lovely lake with extremely limited development. I think there's only 3 resorts on the entire lake; very pristine. Lots of loons and eagles.
Good luck

I went up to Pipestone last few years and have a great trips. The water is clear, but I like it that way, the structure is great and the lake is big. I have never really seen many boats on the lake fishing for Muskie. Have a great trip up there I am sure you will enjoy it.

I was just at the St. Louise sport show and saw a few resorts on Pipestone Lake. The two looked O.K. The one that stands out is Happy Landing Lodge they have a lot of nice muskie pictures from last year and a really nice web site www.happylandingfishing.com! Think of making a trip up there anyone have any info for me?
Tony,
If going to Pipestone I would highly recommend Happy Landing to you, I might have a little bias since in-laws have a interest in resort. The food is excellent, the cooks are definitely first class homemade meals, they will definitely take care of you. Matt in his second year of taking over the resort, and truly is making changes. The cabins are nice and clean. Didn't spend alot of time fishing, just got off a week at eagle and dropped by to visit. Will be back this year hopefully.
Any question, just ask

I haven't been up to Pipestone in years to fish Muskies only because I changed fishing partners and my buddy knew the water like the back of his hand. We use to stay up at Happy Landing but now I hear there is a new owner! My old fishing partner was up last year and really enjoyed the changes made to the resort. The two things that he said changed was the service had greatly improved and also the cabins were much cleaner!
