View Full Version : Minocqua, WI - How's the ice?
Ok, I bit the bullet and with help from Dave In Mpls (told me what to buy so I don't have to do this twice :-)) I'm ready to hit the ice. How's the ice around Minocqua, WI? Should I bring the boat or the ice fishing stuff? I'll be up at our place for the week between Christmas and New Years. Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
FJH

I too am curious to hear a report on how the ice is. Thinking about heading up there during christmas.

Nothing worth standing on yet guys. You can still use many of the boat launches. Temps have been in the mid-upper 30s and we've got some wind now, so anything that's built up anywhere is going to move out. We do have some weather blowing in for the weekend, in fact they've already posted watches for something "significant." Whatever that means.

I know that there are areas of the Eagle River Chain that guys have been ice fishing for about 1 week now- some areas even longer. I think it will depend upon where you go, but I WILL be out next week somewhere. Praying for continued cold.

Lake Minocqua has some ice in the bays, but the big part of the lake is still open as is Lake Tomahawk. They are warning people to stay off the ice as it is still not safe. But by Christmas you may be able to fish in the bays.
Good luck!
