Since Im on a roll asking questions latley (and gettting good info!!!) I just picked up a X70A for $45 off of ebay. Couldnt pass up the deal! I was hoping to bowmount it and piggy back my transducer off of my LMS 350A. All I see is a switch box in the Cabelas cat. to use one or the other, I take it. Do they make a "Y" cable? I was thinking of using BNC connectors and a cable splitter, maybe. Might be a cluster of interference, I dunno. If noting else, I can use the X70A as a backup.

Nope, won't work. Now way! I'll have to take the x-70 off your hands for...oh let's see....$50.

Just kidding, wish I still had my old x-70. Great unit.

I run 2 LMS 350's and use a splitter for the GPS. Bought the splitter from Cabelas several years ago. As far as running the 2 units off of one tranducer it won't work. I would suggest you use the 192khz you have on the bow and purchase a 50/192khz for your transom. I have a 20' boat and start to get crosstalk at 12' running both units at 192khz. There are several advantages to using both units at the same time, especially if you contour troll cranks. Having the unit on the bow lets you see the changes in contour quicker and allows more time to control the boat to keep you in the zone. I also keep the sensativity turned up to detect bait fish with the bow and use the 50khz on the transon with the sensativity adjusted to "filter out" bait fish but still show larger fish. This allows me to see any bigger fish feeding amongst the bait fish. This helps me to put cranks right over the feeding eye's heads. Hope this helps...

Excellent advice, Dutch! I will do just as you suggest.

That's a great idea to run the 50/192 khz transducer on the 350 and the 192 khz on the X70. Another benefit is that the 50 KHZ gives you a much wider cone angle. The drawback is that it's a bit on the pricey side and a rather large unit. You really do have to run seperate freqs if you don't want to develope interference between the two units. If you don't need to run them both at the same time, it opens up a few other (and cheaper) possibilities. If your latest X70A came with a transducer, just mount it and use it. If it didn't, grab one off e-Bay for a decent price. If you want to do a bit of work, you could rig up a double-pole/double throw switch in a small apparatus box, cut /splice it into the center position and one side of the switch, and add cord from the opposide side of the switch to the second unit.....you'd have to have another cord since the end is molded onto it. This would allow you to switch back and forth from one unit to the other using the same transducer. I use this application for an old Humminberd flasher on my bow that I switch between two transducers (trolling motor/transom) when working down a weedline.....ie (B word) bass fishing !! Humminberd made this box for the transducer and also one for the power cord. If you make your own, use shielded wire and keep your wiring short and simple.
