Hi all, I'm a big environmentalist and always try to release my muskies unharmed so they can fight again... I'm interested in getting a muskie cradle for easier release but don't know too much about them... Where is a good place to get them fairly cheap??? How many different types are there and which is the best? Has anyone ever made their own muskie cradle??? Are they hard to make??? If I was going to make my own, what types of material would I need??? Etc.

Thaks for your help :)

Two busted hockey sticks and some netting (or used hockey net to keep a theme). They are not expensive if you buy the alumininiuminum shafted ones. Best invention on the market or homemade. Make sure you if you build it you incorporate ends to prevent the fish from slipping out. Once you go cradle...you never go back

Head down to the library. I think (my memory is so go-o-od) Musky Hunter had an article last year on how to build your own cradle.
As as side point, I've been told that a really big net is better if you fish by yourself. I think the beckman won out.

yep!!! If you are trying to decide which to use, go with the big net!

Agreed

If you are by yourself you need a net

Stay off the pipe...and don't forget to wipe.

Can't think of a better idea when it comes to release other than using a big net thats treated. Get the big hoop. A net you can operate easy yourself with a cradle its at least a 2 man job sometimes even 3 and is a pain. Plus the net helps the hooks get out because it gives the muskies leverage on the hooks and then they can pop those hooks out of their mouths somewhat by themselves.
