Need to find a lake close to Brainerd for opening weekend of Walleye fishing this May. Would like to stay from May 11 (sat) to May 15(wed). I understand this is a tough time for resorts but didn't know if anyone had any ideas. Would actually prefer the lake to be under 3000 acres. Probably 4 guys going with 2 smaller boats. Like to fish for Walleye, but bass and northern would suit us fine.
Please feel free to add links/numbers of resorts and lakes if you want. You can always email me as well.
Thanks,
NC

Here's a good way to get info and surveys on lakes.

Cross Lake.... This lake is connected to 12 other lakes, and in these lakes you will find almost every type of game fish in Minnesota. Whitefish is the walleye lake, Cross, Bertha, Hay, and several of the smaller like in the chain are great bass lakes. The smaller lakes also produce great crappie and sunny fishing. Northerns are in every one the chain. Dagget and Pine are great for larger northerns and bigger crappies.....But stay out of Loon....that's my crappie hole..hahahaha
You can have Clamshell for numbers of crappies.

Great fishing, and lots of water to enjoy..

Hey nc take a look at this site. I think the guy that reports on Mille Lacs lake is a local guide in the area. (www.fishthelake.com)
