Hey, Guys, I apologize for posting this question on this site but it is the only site I know that always comes up with an answer. I want to roast some of my own Pecans and don't know how to do it. Any ideas? Also, has anyone ever roasted Walnuts? You never see them roasted, just in baked goods. Again, I apologize for posting this here but you guys have all the answers. Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

I think you can do it in any oven..Turn the oven on to bake and set it to 375`.
When its hot put the nuts in (spread out on a sheet or tray) and turn the oven to off after about five minutes..Do NOT open the oven door for at least 3/4 of an hour...Should roast them well....I`ve done hickory nuts this way and they turn out great..

True, you can roast nuts in any oven. It is always the best if you can roast the raw nuts right from the plant. But roasting nuts you already have is an option. There are several recipes where you can just plain ol roastem up with a little seasoning. I prefer a dusting of salt, brown sugar and cinnamon. Use a non stick baking sheet, get the oven good and hot, place your nuts on the tray and put tray in oven. scream in extreme pain, remove nuts from oven and dunk liberally in water. when you return from the burn unit, put the pecans or walnuts in the oven and roast them till the coating smells hot. Honestly, you only need a few minutes. shake out on a dry towel to cool. put in air tight container and go rub some more burn cream on aflicted area. enjoy.

pecans are easy to remove from shells but fresh ones have little flavor untill they are cooked somehow. We make pecan icecream by frying chooped pecans in butter( ie buttered pecans)before mix with condensed milk and eggs.It is suprizing the great flavor from frying pecans.Consider what you want to do with the pecans to determine how to cook them.
