Muskie Symposium this past weekend in Minneapolis

My son and I went to the North Metro MI Chapter Musky Symposium in Minnepolis yesterday and had a great time! It was the first event like this that I ever attended, and it was far better than I anticipated. Not only were the speakers great (Dick Pearson, Pete Maina and others), but the door prizes given out (fishing line, lures, nets) far exceeded the price of admission ($20/person). Between sessions, there were some musky videos about Pete Maina and another guy (can't remember his name) that were just hilarious! My 13-year old even enjoyed this 7-hour event with no complaints. He and the two other kids that were there were treated extra well with extra door prizes.

Jeff Olson, the North Metro MI Chapter, and their sponsors deserve extra praise for putting on this event. I have belonged to MI for about 15 years, but have never attended one of their events. I guess I will have to start getting more involved.

Thanks again everyone. Too bad to those of you within driving distance who missed this event ;-). I feel quite lucky to live in an area that provides these opportunities.

North Metro put on a great show this weekend. The guy with Pete on the video's was John Gillespie. I told Pete he should suggest Pete get together with Bill Dance to do a show. I would just be sure that both of them wear life jackets, and have hook cutting tools. They showed John setting the hook on a Muskie, and he lost his balance, and almost fell into the water. They also showed him trying to net a fish, and he netted Pete first, then the camera man.

It was great to talk to Dick, Dan, Jack, and Pete. Very down to earth people, and very easy to approach with questions. I would like to thank Esox Angler, and North Metro Muskie Inc for putting on a great show. If they do this next year, I would recommend going.

Hi Guys,
Glad you enjoyed the event. I know all the speakers did as well (even Jack had a good time, and he was sick as a dog). Jeff did a great job putting the thing together, and the North Metro chapter did a great job taking care of everyone while we were there. Best of all, we raised a little money for Muskies Inc.

Hopefully will become a regular event - it's well worth it.
