Looking for info on which fishing lines are best for Muskie fishing. It's been a few years since I have been able to go and I know the lines have changed alot. Have always used a braided line, 30 lb, in the past, and am hoping to get info on some of the newer lines, preferably a line that will fish topwater, buck tails, and jerks, all in one if possible, thanks skip

Skip, this question has been asked and answered quite a few times. Do a search and enjoy the reading.

I like TUF Line in 50# or 80#

Other favorites you will hear a lot about:
Spectron
Power Pro

I've been using PowerPro for the past 2 seasons and I think it's the best Muskie line I/ve ever used. It's especially good trolling line with a high strength to low diameter ratio.

I switched to 50# TUF line last season and do not think I will change line types again (unless I move up to the 80# stuff).

Here are a few of the reasons that I like the TUF line so much:

1) Low stretch, so that I can feel the strikes just a little quicker

2) It is very durable, compared to the braided line I used to fish with (much less nicks and frays in it after a day of casting)

3) Not sure if there is any scientific reason for this one, but I seem to be casting much farther with the TUF line..

I have used Cortland Spectron and was very happy with performance. This year I am trying FINs PRT Braid. To date, line has performed excellent!! I use the 60lb test which would be good for all around use. What I like the most about the PRT Braid is the ability to use any knot without the worry of slippage. Give it a try, I am sure you will be pleased.

I like Berkley Whiplash in the #80 test. Strong yet fairy inexpensive. Have it on every pole.

There are lots of good lines out there. The important thing is finding one that fits your fishing style. The most popular for Muskis seems to be PowerPro, Tuf line, and Whiplash. I put 80 lb Whiplash on two of my rods last year and it works fine. This year I'm going to the 100 lb for a little extra confidence. I think one would do well with any of the three most popular lines as long as you're using something 80 lbs or greater.

My two cents.
