~~~~First of all I was wondering if anyone wanted to sell a musky rod and reel at a cheap price to me! I need one befoe the end June 16~~~~
Second, I need soem info on catching muskies. In my lake they released 75 huge muskies the samllest is 3 feet long!! I need to know what to use a s bait, what kind of rod (and were i can get one), how to fish them, and where to find them. This is a lot to ask but I am trying to cram my brain full of info before school lets out!! thanx and please......

If you want to spend some money, I think Rollie and Helens has a great beginners package. (www.muskyshop.com) I don't have extra reels I'd be willing to sell. Sorry. But seriously if you want a great package look into the beginners package at Rollie and Helens. You'll get everything you need to catch a trophy. Good Luck.

All of the musky web sites have swapboard sites,,,check them for used rods and reels,,,I would start with a bucktail and when you have had a couple follow go back with a slow moving jerkbait,,,but the bucktail you can work fast and find where the fish are hanging out at and since their new to the lake they may not have seen many bucktails yet,,,

Bass pro shops graphite series rod is $20 an works great i have 3 love them for the price

Vartiak - Bass Pro graphite series????? You heaviest lure you could throw is I believe 3/4 oz. This is not a Muskie Rod by any means!!!
This is a good bass rod for the money, but that is about it!

they have ne that is made specificly for musky it holds 5/8-4oz lures and the action is extra heavy
A friend of mine has the Bass Pro musky rod. It is not a bad rod at all for the money. I have two of the Gander mountain rods, they are not bad. I paid about 70.00 A piece for them. I am pretty sure my friend only paid 20.00 for the bass pro musky rod. I may have to think about that for an extra rod.
Maybe you should stick to bass fishing. If you catch a musky you will be in way too deep to get out. Then nothing is cheap you will be broke for life.

Ihave never caught muskie on it but they are lot of fun with pike. try a shakespeare uglystick. the original uglystick is 28$ and a bit more for the muskie rod but the original will work great. these rods are so durable, you can bend them in half and they won't brake!!

I started out with the Uglysticks - mostly for trolling. Unbreakable rods. However, if you get into casting large lures all day long, the investment for a good quality light, graphite rod is well worth it. It is amazing the difference that you will feel at the end of the day. I have a lot of good beginner's links on my site (including equipment selections) if you're interested.
