My wife asked me to take her out on the lake today while our 3 year old son was at grandma's. Since she's 8 months pregnant I thought it wasn't a good idea. She persisted and so we went. Were only out about 4 hours but managed a fat 34"er. We landed her together so she didn't have much strain. I managed to forget the camera so I have nothing to remember this except the two teeth marks on my hand. She was not a happy fish.
I'm sure no one really gives a hoot but I told the wife I'd post it so people could get a laugh out of this very pregnant lady and some moron out on the lake fishing for Muskie. Now that I think about it, my almost here daughter has already caught her first real fish.

Good post Doug...remember, the only dumb post is the one not posted! I came a gnats backside of missing my 1 + only sons' birth because of a fishing trip...at least you were there in case things got gnarly...that would be neat...water breaking in the boat + out of the baot at the same time! ;)

Boating the fish is only one part of the musky fishing experience - the other "stuff" is what gives us that warm feeling when we recall it in the future.
Nice job Doug and Mrs. Doug :) ..... thanks for sharing.

Doug,
You've got yourself a "keeper" for a wife. May that child be blessed with years of outdoor adventure. With parents like you to, you'll be dragging worms for a couple years for lunker sunnies. Just got back with my 4year old from the best fishing I do. Big fish are very scary for my girl. My girl tarkets color.(perch and sunnies). Brings me back to my youth. Hope for the best for your new addition. Let us know when your best is born.

Thanks for the great replies. I printed it and gave it to my wife who said "Wow, those seem like really nice people. I can't believe you don't really even know any of them." She also noted how I'd better not follow in the footsteps of Sponge and be out fishing when she's nearing delivery. I was going to throw the printout away when she took it and put it in the new kid's scrapbook. Yup, I've got a keeper here. She really liked that comment BTW.
Took our 3 year old out for his first time fishing last week. He caught 5 or 6 small stripers from the bank. He would watch the bobber for 10 seconds and then proceed to comment on the clouds or dig in the sand with the pole. Now THAT activity really reminded me of my childhood. His biggest concern was not to harm the fish when I took 'em off the hook. Cut the line on one that swallowed the hook and he thought it was pretty neat we gave up our hook to avoid killing the fish. Told him we can always get more hooks, but not always more fish. He's into catch and release already! :)
Anyone else like to tell us about taking your little ones out to wet a line? Would make great reading.
Thanks,
Doug
