Hey Dick,
Where is the walleye feed on friday night? Glad to hear about the lake level, it was a little scary in places.

Dan,
Don't be too glad about it. It's costing people their homes left and right up here. Roseau river to crest at almost 23 feet, two feet higher then ever recorded.
Roads out everywhere...
Water world.

Doug,
Any idea if my shack is alright up there? Hope its not floating
around in the bush somewhere...
I've got lots of irons in the fire here, so won't be able to check
on that for some time... If you could let me know how things are up
there I'd appreciate it.
Dave.

Dave,
Just heard from Celeste Colson about a half hour ago. Did not even know that it was bad until then.
I will be thinking of you buddy!!!

Right now you can't get to the Angle, bridge is washed out at Sprague. Almost all roads closed in LOTWs county, and many in Roseau county. The lake is up about 1 1/2 feet in the last three days, and lots of stuff starting to float around. Water color in the Angle is "DARK".
If you are planning to come up for the opener, better do some checking on road conditions before you come, Highway 11 between Baudette and Warroad is currently closed.
Roosevelt (12 miles east of Warroad) recorded 17" of rain.
Dave I'll check your cabin this afternoon, but I think everything is O.K. over toward Young's Bay.

This is from anther message board
Hi Dan,
Yes you heard right! We had a 2 day storm that dumped a whole pile of rain. I haven't heard how much officialy.
As of this posting ( Tuesday 6/11/02 12;55 pm) the roads are closed out of Fort Frances to Hwy #71 and North on Hwy #71 due to wash outs.. The town of Rainy River has declared a state of emergancy and much of Nestor falls is floode. We don't know at this time when the roads will be open. We are getting lots of incomplete and unvarified info so we don't want to make any statements until we know for sure.
Crow lake rose about 2 to 3 feet in the last 2 days and the normaly clear water is now very cloudy. Lake of the Woods was down about 4 feet but with this rain will probably come up some.
It's anybodies guess what this will do to the Muskie fishing. Last season after a particularly heavy storm and lots of run off into Crow, I boated 3 Muskies including a 47 1/2 inch the next day, but that was on Crow lake.
You should call the Ontario Highway dept. at 1800-473 2030 to get an update on road conditions before you come up.

Here is a link to the Fort Frances news paper. Looks like the highways are closed in all directions out of Fort Frances. Hope they don't get anymore rain so they can get the roads open by this weekend.

The dikes on the east side of Roseau didn't hold up, water everywhere on the East side of town. Was sandbagging on the west side and it's not looking good there either. The city is being
evacuated.
Very sad day....
Hiya,
Hang in there Dave. Sandbagged for days in Fargo in 97 so know it's exhausting and frustrating.
Sending good thoughts your way...

I just saw footage from Roseau on the Duluth News. It didn't look good. They said that the National Guard is heading to several areas. My thoughts are with you guys. Hang tough!

Dave:
Cabin is high and dry, I could have drove in. Lots of water in the swamps and ditchs, the Angle can handle a lot of water.

Doug,
Thanks for all the updates on the Angle, and my cabin. I appreciate
that.
RK, Dan, Jim...
Thanks for the good thoughts. My house and family are ok. I've been
in town trying to help out where possible. It is a beyond belief
what is going on in my home town. It is a Grand forks type thing
just on a smaller scale.
Later.
Dave.
