Well I had been chuck’ in heavy lures for 2 days now and only was able to round up a couple of follows. I even attempted trolling, and for me you know I’m jonesing then.

But like usual I turn to are old friend the panfish, cause you know when your hurting for some hits they will always be there for ya.

While I was jigging away a 36-inch muskie came out of nowhere and swallowed the tiny jig (a 1 inch Bass Assassin on black jig head). Luckily the line ended up in the corner of his mouth and missed all the teeth. After a 15-minute fight (which involved chasing him with the trolling motor at times to keep him from running away with all the line) and some skill full cradle work, we landed him! What a crazy way to start the season.

Take a look here under the muskie section for pictures.

I’m not good at estimating weight so how much do you think it weighs?

Somewhere in the range of 10 to 13 pounds. Did you get a girth measurement?

I was in a rush and didn't get it. If I did where on its body would I take, it right in the middle?

At the fattest point. Once you have the girth, you can use the Weight = Length x Girth x Girth / 800 formula

Nice fish and congrats. That had to be one heck of a fight on 4lb test! My guess is 12 lbs!

In the picture it says 10" Believer. It looks to me like a 6" Believer.

We have a musky on our wall from eagle lake caught in 1971 by a friend, from shore, with an ultralight shakespear, 4lb line and a 0 mepps. 44" and 24lbs.

It looks smaller because its in the background but it is ten inches. I had the wrist and sholder pain to show for it, chuck’in it in the current.
