You can get through @ Thunder Bay. My boss just came down late last night through there.

Just spoke with some one up in Nestor Falls that went from there to Fort Francis yesterday. He said that there is a road at the west end of Emo that takes you north to Blackhawk crossing and you hook up with #71 there. To get to Emo you just take the river road #602 west out of Fort Francis. He also said that he heard on the radio this morning that #71 was repaired and open. He also said that he spoke with the crew working on the wash-out at LaVallee and they said they might have it fixed by tonight. I guess it amounts to inquiring when you cross the border. Looking good!

The road to the Angle is being worked on, not passible quite yet.

I'm going to drive it early this afternoon to see what it looks like.

Highway 308 is down to one lane and undercut at the Whitemouth Lake turn off, they are suppose to be working on that now. Highway 525 is under water at Stony Creek (1/2 mile from the 308 turn off), but that was going down, and may be gone by the time I get there. They will be putting gravel on this section this afternoon.

Customs still considers the road closed, and won't let you go through, but that may change shortly.

Highway 11 is closed at Roseau, but open for local traffic from Baudette to Warroad.

Roseau is suffering a major flood, and many businesses, and homes are damaged. There is also major damage to homes south on the Warroad river.

Witch Bay Camp's web site says that HWY 71 is open from Fort Frances to Witch Bay.

Made it in from the Angle to Warroad without a problem, little water across the road on 525 at Stony Creek. They had filled half the road at the Whitemouth raod turn off so that was O.K. Both bridges at Sprague where passable. The road was rough, but they where grading the Minnesota side and 525 on the Manitoba side. The gravel part of 308 was rough, but that's not unusal.

However, when I tried to go back 2 hours later, a "BIG" truck had somehow gotten on the road, and did something to the bridge south of Sprague (Mud Creek Bridge), and they closed the road again, so I'm in Warroad and my clients who I went to Warroad to get are at the Angle.

The word is that they will have the bridge fixed by 7:00PM, so maybe this will work out yet.

Unless we get a bunch more rain we should be in business soon.

The Lake is rising 6" a day! But that should slow down soon.

Does anyone know if you can get out of Fort Frances to the north now? Planning on heading up to Rainy Lake tommorow morning. Has the border crossing been delayed?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks,

The roads were repaired quickly and all should be just fine as long as the rain is avoided. Reports from the east end of Rainy say that the water is quite high and very murky with runoff soil and debris. Gord M.

Dan, I talked to the owner of Man.Camp on Thur. and he had to fly in to his own resort. Cedar Narrows road was "gone " in several places....the delemma he faced was to fly everyone out via Rusty Myers, but a few had rigs at the landing...I guess they will have someone pick them up in Ft Francis and come back in a few days to pick up their boats.
The owner stated he was going to lose 5-9k for the week.
