Most all muskie fishermen use jerkbaits. But under what conditions would you chose a glider over a dive and rise or vice versa?

Gliders lend themselves to more open water areas such as rock bars or weedlines. Where as divers works better in heavier weeds and weed pockets or when trying to reach the tops of submerged weeds.

But are there other times and places and conditions when an angler should pick one type over the other? What do you guys think? Another way to look at my question is, under what conditions would the muskies respond better to one type or the other?

Last year was the year I truely discovered suicks,,,dive and risers in weeds you can poke em down in and when they make contact let em float up, also on sunny days I like the shiney chrome tail on suicks it gives off a nice flash,,other wise if its on the weedlines or rocks I like my gliders you can do more with them retrieve wise

I really think it is just a matter of what you like to fish with.

I know guys that throw only gliders, and some that only use suicks etc. They all catch a lot of fish in the same waters from sping to fall.

I rarely throw gliders, not because I don't think they will work, just like suicks to much.

I have a few favorite jerks that I use in ways that you would consider unconventional. A few trusty beat up Sledges have been bounced off so many rocks on LOW that one is in need of repair. They also do well over open water.

My absolute favorite bait for over cabbage tops is the Tek-Neek, with the Amma Bama getting a close second. The 'Neek doesn't foul as much on the cabbage, but there are times it just feels like a Bama moment.
The wtd Wades Wobbler gets lots of water time fishing deep edges too.

If you fish in cabbage up to the surface on a windy day, the stalks will lay over and if you fish casting into the wind, you can work a Bobbie or Suick back easily. Other than that, you could throw them interchangeably. But, the fish will often have a preferance for one or the other. So if you are getting more action on one kind stick with it. I like the big gliders when I feel the fish are responding to a slower retrieve. I like the Suicks for a moderate retrieve and the small Reef Hawgs and small Eddies if I'm really turning up the speed.
