I'm just starting to use my first snowmobile for ice fishing. It's an
Artic Cat Panther 440 fan cooled-1998. Is it ok to use synthetic oil
in it to cut down the smoke and fumes? Wife says my clothes stink
when I come home from fishing. The previous owner used regular Artic
Cat oil only. What synthetic should I use and can I just add it to
the existing oil in the reservoir?

I went through this a few years ago. Drain the oil in the reservoir and start fresh. I run Polaris and use their products. Any good premium oil will do. Mixing IMHO is not a good thing.

Arctic Cat oil does have a strong odor. That is why I stopped using it. Try Arctic Blue from Fleet Farm or any oil rated Jaso FC.
