In your boat, do ya pee over the side or in a bucket and then dumb it over. Got into an fight with an old boat partner, as I was peeing over the side, the guy went crazy. We sparred over what was more politically correct. What are your thoughts, as I have not had a fist to cuffs like that in a long time...elroy
Great topic, this is quite an issue in our boat also, although it hasn't come to fisticuffs yet.
The younger guys pee over the side since they have the balance to stand at the side and the pressure to clear the gunwales. The older guys use the bucket for safety and sanitary reasons. We have found that the bucket works better for the more robust fisherman also so that he doesn't tip the boat excessively. In our boat, the older guys tend to be more robust, so it isn't an issue.
I am "middle-aged", and I am going to avoid the bucket for as long as I can. But I imagine that someday I will have to admit my age, start wearing glasses and use the bucket.
So far, our boat has been male only, with no objections from my wife and daughters. I often wonder what women would do on a long day of fishing.

Ummm...kind of an odd topic Elroy...but as Moderator I feel it is my duty to reply. Peeing in buckets is for woman. REAL men hang it out over the side for the whole world to judge. Of course, the non-pee-er has an obligation to violently rock the boat just as the pee-ee commences. This is the main reason for wearing knee high rubber boots in my boat.
Once in a while when someone is peeing over the side of the boat, I dangle a big ol' Hawg Wobbler near them. The sight of 3 treble hooks swinging that close to the family jewels tends to get their attention!

When I got my boat a couple years ago, there was a safety pamphlet from the coast guard. It claimed 60% of men who drown in boats have their pants around their ankles when pulled out.

Jim M couldn't have said it better. It is too much fun rocking the boat so the pee-ee slips and goes all over his hands!
I also witnessed a #2 over the side of the boat, and let me tell ya, that was FUNNY! I don't think I could do that!

It's over the side unless there's a strange woman other than family in the boat. Seeing I own the boat, I make the rules. I have a hospital pi**er for those that want it or are bashful or are under the legal size limit. If I'm in someone else's boat, I ask the first time. Don't want not to be asked back if the owner thinks this is rude or barbaric. Anyone who has to go #2 gets a ride back to the cabin or dock!

I guess i am a woman because I have abought a pee can just to pee in the boat. I usually fish with my parents so i am not interested in showing my wares to them and they are not me. There is also usualy a hundred other boats in the area as well. I pee in the cup and dump it so buy me a dress.
Definately side of the boat for me; unless there is a ton of pleasure boat traffic, then it's tie-a-knot-in-it time :D (j/k I would still use the side of the boat!)

From a medical standpoint one need not worry about the sanitation aspect since "wheedle" will not contaminate...I have a tube that runs from the bilge up me pants leg...takes care of the problem! ;)
Sponge,
Did you mean that the tube runs from your bilge "pump" and up your pant leg? Kind of like a fisherman's bidet! I guess it does feel good to rinse off on a hot day!

Why do you think they put livewells in Muskie boats?

What if the livewell lid closes during the procedure? That could hurt! :)

In my boat it's over the side...except..if the waves are big and you'll dribble in the boat, grab the pee-pot.
Good Luck

For men it is over the side, for women it is in the livewell while running.
Of course the standard joke when two guys are going at once is;
Boy that water is cold
Yeh, and deep too
Over the side is just fine - I figure if someone sees anything interesting from another boat I may as well quit fishing and get into the movies...
