Well gil, I don't know if I have a "best spot", but I will try to help you out none-the-less. As far as color goes, that will vary depending on the sky conditions and time of day. The type of lure that I use will depend on the weather conditions as well as the time of year.

I get the felling that you wanted specifics with your very direct question; and to be honest, I am not certain that you will get many responses. A lot of people keep there secret fishing spots under a tight lock and key. But like I said, I will try to help you out, so here goes:

Lake: Island Lake and Little Fork Lake (Three Lakes Chain, Onieda county Wisconsin)
On Island, cast off of the island nearest to the highway X bridge, on the side that is closest to the WaterCraft marina. There is a sand bar that comes up to 5 feet and is loaded with nice cabbage.

On Little fork Fish the both sides of the channel right before you enter into Island Lake.

Lure: Mepps musky killer
Color: Black bucktail, orange blade

My best lure is a spinner bait or bucktail in copper blades and brown hair. The best spot is about any lake in MN with Muskies. Lots of good lakes here with lots of 40 and 50 inch fish.

Well Gil if that's all you want...:P Tone said it best. You may have trouble getting specific spots on specific lakes so take the info and apply it to where you go.

My best spot is a 10 acre backwater bay on a medium sized murky river. Time of day is just before dusk until well after dark. It is weed choked too. I have caught my two largest fish there. The first time it was on a black hair/silver blade Fudally Hawg Spin. (It's a spinnerbait) The next time it was on a yellow and brown Top Raider. Spinnerbaits are definitely a mainstay in my arsenal. That Top Raider is my favorite though. There's something about it that the fish just seem to love. I have a black one that isn't nearly as good. (jlong, are you reading this?)
