I have been making some bucktail spinners - I was wondering - what would an appropriate weight be for one of these??

They are about 6" long - which includes the treble.

I am using a wire diameter of .040 - I am told this is approximately 325 lb test... is this too thin...

Any input you could give me would be appreciated.

I believe the weight now would be about 1 1/2 oz.

Hi Paul, I make and sell Bucktails. I make mine from .051 spring temper stainless steel. I use brass and stainless beads and bodies with # 6,7,8,9,and 10 colorado and Indiana blades. I do a few willow also. I make them at any weight the customer wants. I have some with no weight at all ,just hollow beads for topwater bulging action. The same wire with an oz. of brass or lead will run deeper. Experiment for different results. Kingfisher
