Does anyone know how to separate the case on eagle fishfinders?I have 3 malfunctioning finders. They aren't worth sending in for repairs and thought I would try and see if its nothing more than a burn't diode or something simple that someone with a little electronic knowledge could fix. Any ideas?

There should be some screws on the back of the unit. All you do is be careful when you take the cover off. Its a shame you have three units and none of them can be repaired. Who do you blame? Us fishermen. When these units break down, they want you to go out and buy a new one. Any manufacturer that makes a fishfinder should stock parts and give service to their people for at least 10 years on that typical fishfinder you purchased. Years ago, they had a good policy if the unit broke down, all you did was send them one fee and the unit is fixed. Now they want, on the average, $150 just to look at your unit. This stinks. It goes to show we live in a throw-away society. I've been trying to find a book on fishfinder repairs, but there's none around. I know they're not hard to fix. All they are is basic electronics. These manufacturers should have some kind of schematic when you purchase their units. But they dont. I think if you demand one from Lowrance, they will give you one. The next problem, where do you get the parts? There's only a couple of printed circut boards in these units and you have to know the function of each board on how its supposed to opperate. All you do, take out the old circut board, and put in a new one. No, they want up to $150 just to look at your unit. How long does it take the service person to fix a unit? Not long. But fisherman are too easy to get money out of. They want you to buy a new unit. Ray
