Havn't been on line lately, but Gale Radtke, who now resides on the river is really banging a few big girls. Good for him. He moved to the larry from Wisconsin two years ago, looking for a fish of a lifetime. Check out the new kept M.I. new record fish. She looks kinda skinny.Could you amagine what her weight would be in Oct-Nov.? http://www.radtkespikeminnow.com/fish.htm

after seeing all those kept muskies I will never buy any of their products again. Everyone of those pics was taken on land, meaning none were released. That man is a disgrace to Muskies Inc. I wish they would revoke his membership instead of giving him awards.

Saw his photo album from the 70ties until now countless dead ones. What I can`t understand is why?

Did I mention four trebbels is illegal on a lure in most waters including N.Y.

Gail Radtke has killed another musky. He already has several on his wall. What's this man trying to prove?
The St. Lawrence musky stocks were almost depleted by men like him a decade or two ago. Due to the dedication of American and Canadian anglers who have promoted catch & release, and government agencies on both sides of the border, populations are now increasing. However, with men like Radtke, it won't last long and all work will have been in vain.
I'm glad I've never purchased any of his baits. If I had, they'd be in the garbage right now.

I think this man has no respect for this fragile fishery,All it takes is a few people like him to ruin a fishery! Why do they have a thing on the website promoting catch and release and then they contradict themselves,I guess its alright for them to catch and kill all they want.

This guy keeps that many fish I am glad he is out of Wisconsin. Radtke baits just got crossed out in my R&H book.

Please feel free to email him regarding your thoughs on the value of C+R.I might keep one big pig from the river an donate it to ESF or the NYSDEC if it would help our fishery. Forgot to mention, I've never bought a bait from him.

Why not get a replica made if you want one for the wall. And what is wrong with a picture! those fish are the breeding stock of the future,.,,
I will not go on.
Gale, has kept a lot fish no doubt. He has also realeased them up to 56inches as well. I do not agree with his release policy, but got to know him well over the years and have found him to be a great guy. He was supposed to move to NY many years ago, but stayed in Wisconsin to take care of his mother who was ill. He put off moving for over ten years, to help maintain his mothers health. I think when you look at the important factors of what really makes a person, a quality person whether or not they release a legal fish in not a huge ordeal. Gale is not out looking for glory, he just enjoys to fish and his wall of mounts is impressive. It also includes a replica of a 56.5 inch released fish. They guy has never posted here, why not give it a rest...Ben

has anyone educated this person about catch and release? its not the law but it is important. nobody is saying he is a bad person. his muskie ethics may just be old time thinking. ben, if you know him so well maybe you should pick up your phone.
His website indicates that this fish has been recognized as a new kept division record by Muskies, Inc. Obviously it must be a line class record. Does anyone know what line test it was?
On a related note, does it even make sense to have line class records for muskies? Most of the people that I talk to use the heaviest lines possible so that the fish can be landed in a reasonable amount of time without exhausting it. It just isn't considered sporting to try to play a muskie to death with light line, so why do we reward this with records? I personally believe that the Fishing Hall of Fame should eliminate all line class records (kept or released) for muskies.

In response to topic 8843 - "Trolling Lure Suggestions" on the Muskie Hunter website, Mr. Radtke posted a lengthy reply on July 17th in which he boasts of catching the musky in question on 17lb Trilene XT. And of course, the fish was caught with one of his own company baits.
Other than for the fact that Mr. Radtke's reply is blatantly commercial, I really wouldn't mind all of this, but in my opinion he just kills too darned many muskies.

I was gone yesterday afternoon and last night, otherwise I would have done this earlier. I have already deleted one thread about Mr Radtke, and rather than do that again, I will just lock this one so another one doesn't appear. If someone wants to start a debate about C&R, feel free to do so, just keep the personal attacks out of it.
What he did wasn't illegal, and he shouldn't be crucified behind his back on a public forum for doing it. If you feel he did do something illegal, then contact a conservation officer in the area of the catch. Have any of you bothered to send him an email to let him know this topic is here? Don't you think you at least owe the guy that before you tighten the noose and ruin his business?
Whether I agree with keeping numbers of big fish or not, (I don't) isn't the point. If I am going to protect people I agree with from personal attacks, I need to do the same for people I don't agree with. Anything less would be hypocritical.
