Just purchased this unit to replace my bottomline that unfortunately was eaten by my prop. I didn't want to spend a lot and have heard this is a reliable unit. All be it, you get what you pay for, this will simply be mounted on a 14 ft alum. and used on short fishing trips. What do you like/dislike about this unit?
Does the flasher feature actually work?
What settings seems to show the arc's the easiest?
Thx
I have an Eagle Fish Easy 2 which is the sister unit to the X-51. I love it. I bought it as a cheap replacement for my old bow mount unit with plans to replace it when the budget allowed. I now plan to keep using it.
The things I like the best about the unit are the 10 levels of gray tone and hyperscroll. The gray tones makes for a easy to read display and the hyperscroll fixes the problem of slow scroll speads.
I really don't do much messing around with the settings. I just turn off the fish ID and fish.
This unit compares very favorably with the old X-75 and at a lot better price. It is not clear to me why the X-71 is more money than the X-51. Given the X-51/Fish Easy 2 has a 240 vertical pixal count I would not buy the X-71 over it.

Cam,
Be sure and check out our sister site Walleye Central. There is a ton of posts there about the different types of flashers and sonars. Do a search and I am sure you will find a wealth of info.

I use a X-51 on each of the Lunds I have.
Both Bow mounted.
Temp gauge on the puck transducer is nice while casting and it shows a clean image even in the bright sun light.
Well worth the $180 or so I put out.
