I'm going to be near Nestor Falls in about 2 weeks. I'm limited on what I can bring along, so I need some help on what lures to bring. I don't normally fish muskies, but I have a friend who will loan me some baits. What lures/colors would you recommend I bring along? Any other advice you can offer would be appreciated also.

Can't go wrong with a black spinner bait with silver or orn. blaid.

You can never go wrong throwing topwater baits around the nestor falls area. Try darker colored lures with the prop style rear. We were there the week of 7-6 through 7-13. Almost all of our action came on topwater lures. The most productive being the pace maker. The algae bloom will probably be in full effect when you get there but don't be discouraged the fish are still going to feed no matter how green the water is. Another lure that was hot was the jake in the 6 and 10 inch sizes. Twitch these lures around almost any rock structure you can find and it will help you contact fish. If I keep going I'll ramble on forever so my last lure I would bring up there would be a small bucktail. Either a mepps #5 or a bucher 500 series with black as the body color and orange or silver blades. Fish these lures and you are bound to contact some fish and who knows maybe it will be the fish of a lifetime.
I can't stress enough to always figure 8. Even when the lure is fouled a fish may still be following so you just never know. This happened to my brother when he sarted cranking in his hawg wobbler after the leader fouled on the hooks. As soon as he picked the lure up out of the water he realized the fish was 1foot down and behind the bait. Awh what the heck, if he has some bulldawgs bring those too.

Sorry for rambling but I hope this helps,
Jesse Beam
