I GOT A CHANCE TO USE MY NEW VEX-18 OUT ON DEVILS LAKE N.D. THIS PAST WEEKEND. FISHED 35 FOOT DEPTHS FOR PERCH, AND BOY WAS I IMPRESSED! THOSE FISH COULD NOT HIDE ANYWHERE. WE HAD THREE FL-8SLT'S IN THE GROUP TO COMPARE WITH AND I COULD DROP MY TRANSDUCER IN THEIR HOLES AND SHOW THEM FISH HUGGING THE BOTTOM THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE. THAT AUTO-ZOOM FEATURE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY I SPENT ON IT. CANT WAIT TO USE IT ON THE BIG GILLS BACK HERE AT HOME. BRIAN

Sounds nice, but the real quetion here is... DID YOU CATCH ANY FISH?

YEAH, WE AVERAGED 30 PERCH IN A FOUR HOUR MORNING. USED SMALL MINNOWS ON A SMALL GOLD SWEDISH PIMPLE. LARGEST WERE 14 INCHES/1.5 LBS.

Which transducer did you use: the 9, 12, 19 or 9/19 degree dual beam? Just curious. I'm looking into purchasing a unit.

The FL-18 comes with a 12 deg. that does a very good job of balancing out your needs in shallow or deep water. I dont see a need for a different transducer for the types of fishing I do the most of right now, but I might consider a 9 degree if I ever get around to fishing for Lakers in real deep water. Brian
