In Illinois? Near Chicago? Has to be a dead ugly mafia guy that looks like a musky. Was the "tail" encased in concrete?

The LxGxG/800 formula says it should weigh 99 pounds. Has to be a fake.

My best friends brothers girlfried talked to a guy at the 31 flavors who said his sister in-laws cousin saw the fish. He said it had a 27lb catfish tail sticking out of its mouth and had odd pointy things sticking out of its belly. After further inspection they found a grocery store shopping cart in its gut.

I heard someone from In-fisherman caught it.

Ok, so that explains the excessive weight....from what I know of the guy who supposably caught the fish, he has a weird habit of roping the head and tail to transoms from 2 different boats to see if he can stretch a few inches out of a fish....that MIGHT explain the length? Still searching for info....anyone else?

As reported in the MuskyControversy.com news, apparetnly the guy who caught it was speed trolling a gob of worms behind a grass lake drag boat at approximately 76mph

It ate a gob of worm?

I lost that fish on billy bobs skink bait speed trolling behind my 40ft offshore cruser, in the channel between Marie and Bluff. The water is 4ft deep and its back was out of the water. It also had three jackpots, 10 Jerkos, 1 Slammer, 10 white spinnerbaits in its mouth and twelve prop marks in its back.

Let me know who caught it, I want my stink bait hook back.

The fisherman who caught the thing is going to freeze the head (without the lures) for future transplantation - when science permits

I can confirm the story and have seen the fish. The guy who it claims to have caught is a friend of mine. Don’t let this smokescreen fool you though. There is controversy here, the fish came out of Busse Woods Lake and my buddy bought it from the local tribe who had speared it.

It wasn't speared in the head, was it? Because if it was that cryogenics lab is going to be pissed

Come on people, you all have the wrong information! It was ME who caught the fish. I was at the bar on Blarney's Island drinking a few frosty lagers among the scantily clad women there. Of course I was fishing off the dock while consuming some beverages. I decided to cast out a lure that I made. The lure is a football painted green and yellow, with the #4 on it! This 120 lb muskie comes up and crushes the football lure as violently as Urlacher hits Brett 'addicted to pain killers' Favre.

I fought the fish for 6 beers, and then I gaffed the fish. Everyone at the bar was cheering me, so I decided to cook the musky and feed the whole bar! Sorry, but I forgot to take any pictures!

That is the truth....I swear!

I just heard it was caught on a toy poodle, but the guy wouldn't say what color the poodle was. Now I'm going to have to go out and buy several different colored toy poodles. :)

A 68 inch Muskie? If I even saw one that big I'd probably pass out from hyper-ventelation. I had a mid to upper-50 inch fish follow my topwater to the boat last year and I had to sit down for a couple minutes after that. A 68 inch Muskie? Wow! That would be something if it was real, eh?

can u believe it

I have the real scoop for you guys. It is true but it isnt true. The guy that caught it was Divanis brother Newman, who was in town for a short time. The dimensions were in metric. The REAL dimensions of the fish were
68.25 mm x 32 mm translated into inches it is 2.68" x 1.26". This would make the fish .005 pounds. It is a world record but not for Biggest it was for smallest.

I meant the supposed 68 incher - not Ratke's fish. The Ratke fish is totally believable and quite a catch from what I understand.

Just what would one use to catch a 68 incher anyways - a 20 inch sucker colored Suick?

Well there you go a theory that actually is logical.....yet another short skinny chain fish.... LOL

I heard it was caught by a panfisherman, from shore, who had never fished before, with a zebco 202 rod and reel combo, on a waxworm, just like every other illinois musky record, past present and future.x(
