Please don't read anything negative into this post, but what if we were to bring this board back to where it used to be? Why has this become the Jerry Springer of all musky boards? (to use a funny analogy). I have really become disgusted with some of the BS that is a common occurence on this board. I see less educational and informational exchange happening here. This was a fantastic forum for learning and I feel it has gotten to be nothing other than a bunch of petty arguments that lead to no place fast. Does anyone agree with me, or am I just making this up? Let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cast-n-blast

C&B,

Don't worry about coming off as negative, I have a pretty thick skin. I wouldn't have been able to stay in this job if I didn't. ;) I would be interested to know your thoughts on how to improve this place. I take if from this thread and your post in the other one, that you object to some of the threads that get heated. I do my best to keep the personal crap out of threads, and have caught a lot of heat lately for deleting and locking too many posts and threads. I will tell you straight up, that it is a no win situation. I figure that if I have as many people complaining about me deleting stuff, as I do people complaining about me not deleting stuff, then I am about where I should be. One of the reasons debates get more heated here, is because we allow anonymous posters. The reason for this is two fold. The first and probably foremost, is that it is a business decision. Traffic has a tendency to nosedive when you require people to register. You get a lot more readers as opposed to posters. This is the second reason to allow anons. It makes it easier for new people to join discussions. Allowing anons is not my decision to make as I don't own this place.

I have heard both sides of the coin lately. Your side, and the side that people appreciate that they can come here and discuss controversial topics that other sites don't get into. I tend to agree that when people get passionate about something, good information flows. I try and allow people to get a little heated, as long as they keep the personal crap out of it. I am proud of the fact that we aren't afraid to tackle the tough issues in the Muskie World. Each Muskie site out there has it's own personality. I for one think it would be boring if we were all alike. What do you guys think?

I disagree. I frequent most of the boards and do more reading then posting. If I have a question i come here. I feel more comfortable here then at some of the other boards. i like that there are a wide range of topics including musky polotics. i like musky huntrs board but it is hit and miss. Sometimes it is hopping and sometimes it doesn't move for days. i like there software alot though. I wish joe bucher would post there because it seems like the people from the magazine don't post there much. When i go to muskie first i feel like i do when i go to my wifes work christmas party. Everybody there knows everybody except me. It's sort of like one big inside joke. i also feel a little intimidated and thats why i don't post there much.

Mikie, I see your points exactly and there is really no disageement here in actuality. The intention of the post was to get back to the good 'ol days of MC in that it was a board where many people came to to bounce ideas off of one another. I like this board and frequent it more than any other. However, at one time there was a forum here that in my opinion just does not exist any longer. Muskie first is a great board as well, and I do understand that it is somewhat camp because it can seem like a good old boys club in that many of the posters there know each other. ( that was not a slam BTW) And, that does not negate that it is a valuable source of info. The intentions of my post are to get MC back to a highway of information and less of a cat and mouse game of rat race BS. All of this is IMHO of course. Cast-n-blast

I totally agree and disagree. I've only been reading posts on here for about a month now. But what I have seen its kind of gone down hill on the topics. I thought there would be more questions and anwsers kind of topics like about how to, new baits and presentations, ect. But there are a lot of complaints and just little bull ##### talk. I have no problem with this but all the posts are turning into this. But enough of that. I think otherwise this is a really good site. Most others sites they have thier little clicks and most of the stuff is inside #####. That amkes me mad because they treat outsiders like crap. If your not one of them your nobody. But this site is pretty good as hearing and treating everyone equally. I just dont want this site to become like muskiefirst.com. and go down the crapper.

Cast, lots of good info gets exchanged here.
The nice thing is the openess.Yes sometimes heated contraversial.
But very muched watched by everyone.Ideas and great and good ideas come from debates. When it gets nasty, its anon or some know who it may be so it is dealt with.

I do agree, fishing info is more enriching but we must be mad aware of the reality of it all at times.

Jim McCullough is problably one of the best moderators around, leanyent and a quality human being.Shares his views and allows many view points. This is what learning is all about,Its nice to know the good but it is important to be aware of the bad that exist.
We are all common anglers disscussing and sharing percetions, opinions and angling experiences.
This site accepts it all.
All sites are good, all message boards are good food for your brain.
Your Brain is hungry,go feed it!

Guys, I don't know how in depth or long this thread is going to get, but I would ask one favor from you. Keep the bashing of the other boards to a minimum. I don't mind what you have to say about MC, as I take it as constructive criticism, but the owners of the other boards probably won't be here to offer their side. Thanks in advance!:)

I do want to make it cleat that I in no way would want a person to construe that I was or want to bash any other board. The heart of my topic was simply to see if others here feel that this board gets lost in a lot of issues that really, in my very humble opinion, don't address the real reason for the existence of this board. I know I can choose to read what I want to and take from it what I want, but I really miss a lot of the former posters who have shyed away from MC because of the slamming that goes on from time to time. Enough said, and there probably does not need to be any further discussion of this topic. Thanks for listening and understanding my point of view! Now, go fishing and catch a big, and watch her swim away!
