I know many of us expressed our displeasure with the GM corp over the alliance with HSUS. I wrote a letter myself, but have not gotten a phone call or written response. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten a response???

Automated reply only. Seems like they just want to brush us off! Hope that is not the case and they really do care. If they do, you know we will hear from them.

Yes, Here is the text of the reply:

Dear Mr. Nichols:

Thank you for contacting General Mills. We are sorry that you found our premium inappropriate and appreciate the time you took to share your opinion.

The "Pets and their Celebrities" calendar promotes the benefits - and responsibilities - of pet ownership. It is a responsible message. It is not "anti- hunting." It is not "anti-fishing." The calendar pictures celebrities and their pets, with a message of responsible pet ownership. But we're aware of the reaction this has spawned with hunting, fishing and outdoors enthusiasts - and we're taking calls and letters like yours very seriously. Your views will certainly be shared with the decision-makers involved in this and future decisions regarding our promotional tie-in partners.

We appreciate your interest and hope you continue to enjoy our products and promotions.

Sincerely,

Vanessa Penns

Obviously, this is not what we were looking for. Let's talk about picketing their facilities. Any thoughts?

Nick, thanks for the update, I was wondering if they would follow through with anything. Sounds like they are just blowing us off.
I never did hear a reply from the letter I sent, guess my business is not important to them.

Here that is in everyday english,
Blah blah blah, we did nothing wrong. Blah blah blah, the calendar deal has a good message. Blah blah blah, we are sidestepping the isue of who is behind the calendar and where the money went. Blah blah blah, we dont give a rip about your pi**ant concerns, but maybe we will consider you next time...NOT Blah blah blah....and the horse you rode in on!

don't think they will change direction next time...i inquired about a similar stand general mills makes on abortion...they literally told me they will continue to support planned parenthood and pro-abortion groups...i countered that they should give pro-life groups equal donations and they all but said shove off...they have no plans at all to support pro-life...nor would i expect them to change their stand on fishing/hunting groups...i bought my last general mills label about 5 yrs ago and stuck with my beliefs..and i have a large..consuming ...family of four daughters...and liked many betty crocker, general mills products....when we gave up hamburger helper i was glad...steve

One other thing I've done is post this info on other message boards to get the word out. We've got to pull together if we're gonna be heard. I'm also telling all my friends and family why I don't think any of us should support GM. I've wrote the local outdoors columnist here in the cities, but I haven't gotten a response from him yet either. I'm betting he wouldn't be allowed to take on a corporate giant anyway....

Sorry to correct you vetspet but there are not pro abortion groups, only pro choice.

Maybe next year, just to even things out, they can produce a calendar of "Celebrity Deer Hunter's and their Gut Piles." I'd like to see that on the back of a box of Golden Grahms!!

you may call them as you will...the truth is they are pro-abortion...not pro-choice as the politically correct would have one believe...pro-choice would mean they give both choices...this is not the case as anyone familiar with planned parenthood realizes...the young teenager is all but led to the abortion office...the fetus is referred to as a product of conception....none of the grisly facts about abortion are spelled out....etc etc...there are many enlightening books on this process in which they hide the truth to these young, scared, women...if you care to do a little reading i can identify several references

I did not really think the letters would generate much change. Obviously, GM believes that the calendar is acceptable and it might be a positive measure in their minds. However, what they overlooked was the alliance with HSUS and the aggravation that organization posses for hunters and fishers. I went shopping last night with the little lady. We bought no GM product, much to Mommas dismay (Coupons rule her cart) I can't honestly say it will have any effect on GM and I am all for pet humanity but I will not tolerate or support an organization who's views are so skewed and openly opposed to the extractive sports. It just does not make sence.

Picket??? Name the time and day, I'll be there!
